Dusseau Investigation Continues

It's now been 2 weeks since Robert Dusseau of Ishpeming was murdered during a robbery at the Marquette Township pawn shop he owned. There are no arrests yet, but police are still investigating tips that are coming in and developing leads. The police sketches of people of interest in the case are being combined into a wanted poster that'll be placed in area storefronts in the next few days.

DNRE Meeting on Kennecott Eagle Mine

The Kennecott Eagle Mine project continues to move forward despite continued opposition from some environmental groups. Kennecott Eagle Minerals says it has all the necessary state permits to operate the Eagle Mine once it's built. But it is asking the state for a change to a groundwater discharge permit that it already obtained.

Au Train Dam Sale Agreement

A dam that supplies power to parts of Alger County is on its way to new ownership. UPPCO owns the Au Train Dam, along M-94 near Munising. But it recently reached an agreement with an independent power company -- North American Hydro of Wisconsin -- to sell the dam to them.

MI Unemployment Drops Slightly Again

Michigan's unemployment rate improves a little bit once again. The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth says today that it went down to 14.3% in January, the most recent month available.

MTU's Wysocky, Barnes Best in GLIAC

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech women’s basketball student-athlete Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and John Barnes was named GLIAC Coach of the Year as the league handed out awards at its pre-tournament banquet tonight.
