More About TV5&10 Mike Hoey Senior ReporterMike Hoey joined ABC 10/CW5 in September 2006 as a general assignment reporter. He served as News Director and 5:30pm anchor from May 2007 to April 2010. Though no longer News Director, he is still out on the road reporting. Mike won a pair of 2009 Michigan Association of Broadcasters Category 4 Excellence Awards for his reporting -- Best News Series and a Merit Award for Best News Reporter.
A native of Holyoke, Massachusetts, his route to the U.P. took a few twists and turns. Before coming here, Mike had been a freelance reporter for the Springfield, Massachusetts Catholic diocese for two years. Prior to that, he spent three years at WWLP-TV, the NBC station in Springfield. He spent the last two of those years producing newscasts. WWLP was one of the stations at which Mike interned during his time at Boston University. He got a degree in Journalism from that school in 2000.
