9 Year Old Recieves Heart Transplant

Just last Thursday we brought you the story of 9 year old Griffin Helsten, an Ishpeming resident suffering from a rare heart condition. And now we have an update as Griffin makes a big stride on the road to recovery. Griffin under went surgery yesterday to receive a new heart.

Menominee Police Investigate Death

Police in Menominee are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman. City police say Amanda Chase was found dead in her apartment on Thursday. An autopsy was performed over the weekend.

Snowmobile-vs.-Police Officer Follow-Up

A Marquette County teenager is still in jail in Schoolcraft County, charged with assault on a police officer. 19–year–old Dawson Gray of Gwinn had another day in court today on charges stemming from a January 21st incident in which he allegedly hit a sheriff's deputy with his snowmobile. Gray faces a variety of charges, including attempting to do bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Free Ski Helmets at Mont Ripley

Young skiers were treated to a free helmet today at Mont Ripley in Hancock. The helmets were provided through a $3,000 grant to Portage Health and an additional $2,000 from Dr. Craig Coccia of Marquette General Health System's Brain & Spine Center.
