Police in Menominee are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman. City police say Amanda Chase was found dead in her apartment on Thursday. An autopsy was performed over the weekend.

Snowmobile-vs.-Police Officer Follow-Up

A Marquette County teenager is still in jail in Schoolcraft County, charged with assault on a police officer. 19–year–old Dawson Gray of Gwinn had another day in court today on charges stemming from a January 21st incident in which he allegedly hit a sheriff's deputy with his snowmobile. Gray faces a variety of charges, including attempting to do bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Free Ski Helmets at Mont Ripley

Young skiers were treated to a free helmet today at Mont Ripley in Hancock. The helmets were provided through a $3,000 grant to Portage Health and an additional $2,000 from Dr. Craig Coccia of Marquette General Health System's Brain & Spine Center.

Driver Arraigned in Fatal Crash

A Marquette County woman is in jail tonight, after a weekend drunk driving incident that killed one person. 34 year old Amy Lynn Tierrablanca was arraigned February 6 in 96th District Court in Marquette on the charge of 'operating while intoxicated - causing death." Troopers from the Negaunee post of the Michigan State Police say the woman was driving north on County Road 550 in Big Bay around 3 Saturday morning when the accident occurred.

Iron County Snowmobile Accidents

The Iron County Sheriff's Office had a busy Saturday, with several snowmobile crashes to look into. One of them happened shortly after 1 pm Central time in Caspian during the Mid America Championship Hillclimb snowmobile race. A competitor was trying to climb the hill when his machine's throttle stuck open.

Negaunee Home Explosion

A home in Negaunee is a total loss after it exploded early Sunday morning. The city's Fire Department says it happened shortly before 3 am on Sunday at 1016 Baldwin Avenue. All four people inside the home got out safely, but they sought their own medical treatment as a precaution.

Fatal Crash in Big Bay

A man died overnight in a car accident on County Road 550 in Big Bay. State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened shortly after 3 this morning, just south of County Road KH. A 33-year-old Big Bay woman was heading north when she drove off the roadway, hit a snowbank, rolled the vehicle over and hit a guy wire attached to a utility pole.
